Dear Forum members, good time of day!
I just bought a muff-size box lock caplock pistol with a screw-off barrel, built approximately in 1840-1850s. It was in a rough condition, but it could be worse.
Anyway, it has British proof marks (London?), and is engraved with LONDON on one side, and SS on the other side.

I assumed that the letters SS are the initials of the gun maker. No matter where I looked, I couldn't find any references to the name or initials.
Could you please help identifying the name of the gun maker? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance!
