melting lead
#1
Can I used an old copper saucepan on a camping gas ring to melt lead?
Do I need a thermometer to accurately find the correct temperature for casting lead balls?
thank you

Old copper pan should work fine. Many people use thermometers and insist that they are essential for proper control of the eventual casting density. I have been casting for more than 40 years and have never used one.
